Rourkela, 25 July : As a part of the Safety Management initiative “Project Nischay’ launched at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a “Safety Maturity Survey” was inaugurated by S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works) in the presence of P K Sahoo, ED (Projects) Somnath Tripathy, ED (MM), Dr. B K Hota, ED (M&HS) and S.S.Roychoudhury, CGM(RMHP) at HRD Centre on 25th July.
The function was attended by the Chief General Managers and HODs of various units from across the plant. It is worth mentioning here that, a Safety management consultant Messers Ernst & Young has been engaged to assess and help RSP in instilling a culture of holistic safety in the organisation.
Addressing the Senior officers present on the occasion, Mr. Suryawanshi emphasised upon the importance of Safety Maturity Survey and stressed upon the role of leadership, attitude, mindset and commitment towards safety as these are the vital components to ensure safety in every aspect of one’s life. He also focused on prioritising safety to step up the plant’s performance, production, profitability and viability with sustenance.
Mr. Suryawanshi urged all for active participation in the Safety Maturity Survey so as to further strengthen safety work culture in RSP and make it a world Class Corporation producing green steel.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sahoo highlighted the advantages of Project Nischay in assessing the gaps and bridging them for creating robust safety system within the organisation. He urged all to make Nishchay an integral part of their work and abide by the rules and principles while working as a team.
Mr. Tripathy urged all to extend cooperation to the Nischay for making the survey a success and also encourage to all for strengthening safety work culture in RSP. Dr. Hota spoke about the importance of being giving honest and unbiased answers to the survey.
A brief presentation was made on the overview of the ‘Safety Maturity Survey’ by Raja Debnath, Consultant of M/s E&Y giving an insight regarding the road map for the implementation of the safety survey procedures. It was followed by an open house discussion where several questions were raised, which were clarified by Mr. Debnath.
At the outset Mr. S.S.Roychoudhury delivered the welcome address. A K Panda, GM (Safety) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Ankita Bilung, Manager (RCL) anchored the programme.
