Korba, January 6, 2025 : Bibhas Ghatak has assumed the role of General Manager of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) at NTPC Korba, effective today. Shri Ghatak brings over 37 years of extensive experience in power plant operations and maintenance, having served in various leadership roles across NTPC’s flagship projects.

Before this appointment, Shri Ghatak held the position of Head of Operations and Maintenance at NTPC Jhabua and NSPCL-Bhilai, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational expertise.

An alumnus of Calcutta University, Shri Ghatak began his NTPC journey as an Executive Trainee in 1988, after earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Over the years, he has been instrumental in ensuring operational efficiency at NTPC’s renowned power stations, including Jhabua, Bhilai, Singrauli, Jhajjar, Kahalgaon, Vindhyachal, and PMI Noida. His commitment to excellence has significantly contributed to NTPC’s growth in the power sector.

Shri Ghatak’s career is distinguished by his focus on improving O&M performance and his dedication to continuous learning. He has undergone specialized training in areas such as safety, contract management, global sustainability challenges, flue gas desulfurization (FGD), vigilance programs, radiographic film interpretation, and energy management. His holistic approach to operational excellence and sustainability underscores his commitment to NTPC’s core values.

As General Manager of NTPC Korba, Shri Ghatak will oversee the O&M activities of the 2,600 MW plant, one of NTPC’s major power-generating units. Under his leadership, the plant aims to strengthen its operational capabilities, enhance safety measures, and uphold its commitment to sustainability while continuing to serve the surrounding communities.
