Coal India Chairman P.M. Prasad addressed the inaugural session of the 18th Indian Coal Market Conference 2025, organized by mjunction services limited in Kolkata.
In his address, Shri Prasad highlighted that as India’s leading coal producer, Coal India will continue to play a pivotal role in the energy sector over the next two decades.
While coal’s share in the energy mix is expected to decline with the growing presence of renewables, Coal India is proactively preparing for the future.
The company is actively exploring alternative uses of coal as part of its diversification strategy and is focusing on increasing coal production from underground mines to promote sustainable mining practices.
Director (Technical) Achyut Ghatak, reinforced the significance of coal, both historically and in the years ahead, emphasizing that for a country with a population of over 1.3 billion, coal remains essential to ensuring energy security.
