Bhilai, 02 July : An additional Billet Charging Grate Unit was inaugurated at SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Wire Rod Mill (WRM), in Bay-1 of SMS-3 Billet Yard, for enhancement of hot billet supply to WRM. It took 101 days for successfully commisioning the Billet Charging Grate Unit using in-house resources.
The Charging Grate was inaugurated by Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) and Shri. Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) on 29th June 2023. Dr. AK Panda, ED(F&A) and Dr. Ravindranath M, CMO I/c (M&HS) were also present on this occasion, along with Shri. MK Goyal, CGM (MWRM) and various other CGMs, GMs, other senior departmental officials and Plant personnel.
Addressing the gathering Shri. Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) congratulated the Plant Collective and said that the inauguration of this additional unit does not come as a surprise to me, as Bhilai Steel Plant has been doing many such exemplary things that help the plant achieve new milestones. I am convinced that with the team-spirited work-culture at our Plant will help us achieve any goal. This unit is going to be beneficial for the Plant in multiple ways by further increasing the production capacity, said Shri. Dasgupta.
Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) congratulated the Plant collective for successfully completing the task of commissioning the Billet Charging Grate Unit and said that we all have to work together with the same spirit, so that we all can feel proud of our contributions for taking the Indian Economy to new heights.
Dr. AK Panda, ED(F&A) appreciated the contributions of various departments of the Plant, including Shop Mechanical, Shop Electrical, Civil, SMS-3 etc. for commissioning the additional Billet Charging Grate Unit which will help in enhancement of the supply of Hot Billets to WRM. The newly installed Billet Charging Grate will immensely benefit the Plant’s production, Dr. Panda said.
The Billet Charging Grate Unit helps in hot supply of Billets to reheating furnace of Billet Yard through extended roll table. Several departments of the Plant contributed in successful commissioning of the Billet Charging Grate Unit including CED, Central Mechanical, Central Electrical, SMS-3, Services, Material Management, EDD and INCOS.
The programme was conducted by Shri. Nitin Shirkhedkar, JO (WRM) while Smt. Anupma Kumari, GM (MWRM-Electrical) proposed the Vote of Thanks.
