Hyderabad, 18 Nov. The All India General Council of CITU, the highest policy making body of CITU after its triennial National Conference, has met in Hyderabad at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram Auditorium from 16th -18th November, 2021.
The meeting started with the flag hoisting by the All India President Dr. K.Hemalata followed by paying floral tributes at the martyr’s column. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. K.Hemalata, President, CITU. Chukka Ramulu, CITU Telangana State President and Chairman, Reception Committee, has welcomed the Office Bearers and the General Council Members who have assembled there. Prof. K. Nageswar Rao, Ex.MLC, the Honorary Chairman of Reception Committee, has greeted the General Council.

Totally 352 General Council Members out of 465 have attended the meeting. In the run-up to the General Council, the meeting of the All India Co-ordination Committee of Working Women at this General Council Tier was held on 15th November, 2021 and discussed the issues connected with working women.
Immediately after the inaugural session, the plenary session, chaired by the Presidium led CITU All India President Dr. K. Hemalata, was started in the forenoon of 16th November where CITU All India General Secretary Tapan Sen presented the General Secretary Report. GC has wholeheartedly endorsed the call of Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions for Two Day General Strike during the Budget Session of Parliament and decided to start the campaign to take the messages of the strike among the workers and people immediately.
After two days deliberations the following decisions were taken :
- Preparations for the 2 days’ country wide joint general strike: In December 2021 and January 2022 CITU will concentrate on preparing the working class for the 2 days’ general strike during budget session, as decided by the joint national convention of trade unions. All CITU committees/ unions/ cadres up to the lowest level of our organisation should be involved in the preparations.
- Sectoral Struggles : In prelude to the strike sector-wise movements like the Power grid strike on Dec.2 and All India Construction Workers two day Strike on Dec. 2 and 3 have also planned. Against the reckless and anti-national privatization move of Modi regime the employees in banks, LIC, Port and Dock etc., have been on agitation and decided to take to higher form of resistance in the days to come.
- 26th November 2021: State level massive mobilisations on 26th November 2021 in coordination with SKM on the anniversary of the General Strike and historic kisan struggle preceded by independent campaign for 10 days from 15- 25 November.

The campaign to focus on NMP, labour codes, farm laws, demands of migrant workers, unorganised sector workers, mainly minimum wages, job security, social security along with the compelling issues of price rise and unemployment.
The General Council has fixed specific targets to consolidate organization and reach one crore membership.
