Korba. Under the wake of rising COVID cases due to the new Omicron variant the state government of Chhattisgarh has imposed various restrictions including night curfew, closing of educational institutions, malls, cinema houses, gyms etc.
A total ban has been imposed on public gatherings and strict directions have been issued regarding following the COVID appropriate behavior. The administration has warned of penal measures against the residents flouting COVID rules.
In an attempt to take pre-emptive measures, the union government has initiated vaccination of adolescents aged between 15-18 years since January 3, 2022. The vaccination drive is being carried out vehemently at different places in the country. In Korba, BALCO hospital is the first to initiate this drive in the region and has vaccinated 250 teens till now. The vaccinated youngsters are also being provided with the certificates along with encouraging them to strictly follow COVID appropriate behavior.
Due to the vaccination of more than 100 crore people in the country, it can be affirmed that the immunity to fight against the anticipated wave of Corona has developed among the masses. It is being stated that the people who are completely vaccinated with both the doses of vaccine are better protected as compared to the unvaccinated ones and have a fast recovery rate comparatively.
Initiating the vaccination of teens is a welcome step amidst the rising cases and will offer a better shield to the children to fight against the vaccine.
BALCO management has undertaken strong steps since the starting of the pandemic by conducting mega campaigns to aware the people living in BALCO township, aiding the district administration with required medicines and equipments and by regularly sanitizing the plant and township premises.
Leading the fight against Corona, help desks have been established at BALCO hospital and ambulances equipped with PPE have also been kept ready for ensuring smooth transit of infected people. Also sufficient amount of sanitizers, masks and other Personal Protective Equipments have been distributed to the medical personnel and workforce employed at plant.
Taking care of the extended family members of the employees, immunity boosters have also been provided by the management in the wake of rising cases. The residents of Balconagar are strongly urged to avoid attending any public gatherings and travel by bus, train or flights if not urgent. Do not believe in rumours and consult the doctor in case of any doubt.
Implementing the COVID appropriate protocol, crowd entry of employees in the plant has been banned to ensure effective social distancing. Different shifts have also been designed as per the requirements, biometrics have been stopped, any person entering the plant is made to undergo thermal screening, sanitizers have been placed at all the appropriate places in the plant premises.
In order to avoid entry of people from outside, visitor rooms and visitor portals have been closed. Also the employees and their family members are medically tested after returning from outside and regular information is being disseminated regarding the preventive and precautionary measures.
