New Delhi, 11 Febraury : A delegation of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh led by Ravindra Himte, General Secretary had met Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi and submitted a memorandum suggesting different measures to restart the production in closed mills. B Surendran, All India Organising Secretary was also part of the delegation.
The minister has responded positively to BMS’s demand for payment of pending salaries for National textile mill workers at the earliest possible. These workers are getting only 50% salary since the Lockdown declaration in March 2020. Even that salary has also been pending for the last four months.
The Minister has responded satisfactorily regarding our demand to pay full salary and Gratuity amount to Retiring employees so that, they will get full Pension benefits.
The BMS has made many suggestions to restart production in NTC mills like – to divide the existing 23 mills into two categories and restarting production in the 10 to 11 Mills belonging to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh which have Modern machines immediately; to change existing production strategy; to establish Solar and Wind energy plants to reduce power costs; to provide preferential treatment to NTC fabrics; to have a Memorandum of Understanding with Cotton Corporation of India, etc.
The Minister heard all the demands and suggestions patiently and responded positively and promised to look into the demands. The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere. Prior to that, the BMS met the Chairperson of NTC limited Smt. Prajakta Verma and submitted memorandum.
