New Delhi : A high-level delegation of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) comprising All India Federations and All India Unions of Banking and Insurance Sectors met the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman on 10th October 2024.
The Minister spent over 100 minutes with the delegation and had separate meetings with the Insurance and Banking sector unions. M Nagaraju, newly appointed Secretary of the Department of Financial Secretary was also present in the meeting along with the Minister.
The Presidents and General Secretaries of the Banking Federations that participated are – the National Organisation of Bank Workers; the National Organisation of Bank Officers; the All-India Gramin Bank Workers Organisation; All India Gramin Bank Officers Organisation. The Banking Retirees’ problems were represented by Girish Arya, the Financial Sector In charge.
Similarly, on behalf of Insurance Sector Unions the General Secretaries of the following organisations have participated – National Organisation of Bank Workers; National Organisation of Insurance Officers; National Organisation of Insurance Development Officers; National Organisation of Insurance Pensioners; Bharatiya Life Insurance Agents Association; Bharatiya Insurance Surveyors & Assessors Association; All India Financial Services Executives Association; National Federation of General Insurance Employees. Alongside these, Secretary of Bharatiya Coins & Currency Mahasangh also participated.
Each organisation raised important issues of their respective fields to which the Minister responded positively. Accordingly Instructions were passed onto officials for follow-ups.
The problems that were brought to the notice of the Hon. Minister are- the recruitment of cadres at all levels in both the banking & Insurance sectors; regularisation of sub-staff working in both commercial banks & rural banks; transparent HR policy, uniform transfer & promotion policy; ending discrimination in the name of minority unions; 5 days working in banking sectors; problems of retirees in banking & Insurance sectors; Pension updation in insurance sectors; establishing insurance agents welfare board; scrapping the special rule of decrement for LIC development officers; IRDA rules related to Insurance Surveyors; alternate employment to FSE’s in LIC ; resolving long pending problems in IDBI particularly regarding erstwhile United Western Bank employees; discriminatory attitude of united India Insurance Company; Rajasthan Marudhar Gramin Bank; UCO bank etc.
The delegation led by B. Surendran, All India Organising Secretary of BMS and Girish Arya, All India Secretary of BMS & in charge Financial Sector all the deputy in charges Ramnath Kini, Viraj Tikekar, Rajendra Sharma and Somesh Biswas were present in the meeting.
