Chattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) organised public hearing for NTPC Sipat stage-III (1 x 800MW Ultra Super Critical Technology Project) at Sipat village on December 11, 2023. People from project affected villages, locals representative, stakeholders and officials gathered in large numbers wherein Sh RA Kuruvanshi, Additional collector, Bilaspur and Smt Rashmi Shrivasatava Regional Officer (CECB) presided over the hearing.
In his opening remark, Shri Pankaj Sharma, DGM (EMG) welcomed the dignitaries and public besides highlighting the unique features of the Stage-III. Based on Ultra Super Critical Technology, the Stage-III unit consumes less coal compared to conventional unit and thus making it environment friendly. Set up with an approximate Project Cost of Rs. 7000 crore, the Stage-III does not require any additional land. Also no additional water allocation is needed. The project is coming up with existing land and allocated water.
Sharing their opinion and concern, public expressed NTPC Sipat’s ongoing activities for the welfare of the nearby villagers. They further requested the management to increase the welfare budget for overall development of the needy people in the surrounding villages.
With coming up of the Stage-III, the total capacity of NTPC Sipat Power Station will increase to 3780 MW. Presently, the station is generating 2980 MW through Five Units setup earlier under Stage-I & II. With increased capacity, NTPC-Sipat is not only committed for development of the country but the state also.
