Ranchi: Central Mine Planning & Design Institute in association with NIMITTA, an NGO in Ranchi, organised a mass wedding of 43 couples at Kunti, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
In the tribal communities of Jharkhand, men and women can choose their life partner and move in together without any marital status. In their tradition, this is called a dhukua marriage.
The mass wedding was organised to officially recognize the dhukua marriage couples as husband and wife, in society. The couples will also be provided with a marriage certificates.
