A seminar on “Emerging trends in drilling and blasting with credible solution to challenges” was organized at Coal India Hq. in Kolkata.
P.M. Prasad, Chairman, Coal India Ltd. (CIL), while inaugurating the seminar, emphasized on importance of the topic for the advancement and safety of mining industry. He stated that drilling & blasting constitute significant unit operations in large opencast mines and underscored the need for adoption of recent global trends for this critical operation.
Dr. B. Veera Reddy, Director (Technical), CIL highlighted how technological advancements have ushered in a revolution in the drilling and blasting industry. He pointed out that automation, data analytics, and and cutting-edge technology have not only improved efficiency but also made operations safer and more ecologically friendly.
CMDs and DTs of CIL subsidiary companies attended the seminar virtually. Professor Duncan Chalmers, Lecturer, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia spoke on the testing of explosives and its relevance to the underground mining practices.
