Korba, 25 August : New Korba Sperspeciality Hospital (NKH) is operated in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The hospital management claims better treatment and facilities, but the patients and their relatives who reach here are not aware of the educational qualification of the doctor who will be treating them. In such a situation, the degrees of doctors come under question.
The Korba Super Specialty Hospital management has not made public the educational qualification of the doctors providing the services. The names of doctors providing services have been listed in the reception area of the hospital, but their educational qualifications have not been shown against their names. Only the method of medicine has been mentioned. While the rule says that all the doctors providing services in the hospital, their educational qualification, stream of medicine practiced, doctor’s address, contact number, email will be displayed. Only the name of the doctor and his medical practice are mentioned on the board in the reception area of Korba Super Specialty Hospital.
It has to be mentioned here that Chhattisgarh State Nursing Home and Medical Establishment Licensing Act (Nursing Home Rules 2013) applies to private nursing homes and hospitals. Under this act, private nursing homes and hospitals are registered. Standards have been set for hospital operations in the Act, which are mandatory to be followed.
It is surprising that the super specialty hospitals are also flouting the rules and regulations of the state government. It is the duty of the Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district to see whether the standards enshrined in the Act are being followed. There is also a district level committee, which inspects private hospitals from time to time. The chairman of this committee is the Chief Medical and Health Officer and there is a member secretary and five other members. No such committee is functional in Korba district, it doesn’t seem.
When asked for information, the manager of the hospital got angry
New Korba Super Specialty Hospital has appointed a manager to look after the administrative arrangements. The manager’s name is Rajesh Chandani. When Rajesh Chandani was discussed in the context of not making public the information about the educational qualification of the doctors serving in the hospital, he cited a national level rule and said that he is not bound by it. That is, the Administration Manager of New Korba Super Specialty Hospital meant to say that they do not follow the Nursing Home Rules-2013 of Chhattisgarh. Rajesh Chandani got angry on discussing about general information and called the reporter good and bad.
