Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that senior BJP leader LK Advani will be conferred with the Bharat Ratna. In a social media post, Mr Modi said he met Mr Advani and congratulated him on being conferred this honour. He said the senior BJP leader is one of the most respected statesmen of the times, and his contribution to the development of India is monumental.
He said Mr Advani’s life is one which started from working at the grassroots to serving the nation as the Deputy Prime Minister. Prime Minister said Mr Advani distinguished himself as Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister and his Parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary, and full of rich insights.
Prime Minister Modi added that Mr Advani’s decades-long service in public life has been marked by an unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity, setting an exemplary standard in political ethics.
He said the senior BJP leader has made unparalleled efforts towards furthering national unity and cultural resurgence. He also said that the conferring of the Bharat Ratna on him is a very emotional moment for him.
