Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has become the first coal miner to put artificial intelligence (AI) in use by developing “Soochna Kosh”, a ChatGPT like system for information management.
Named “Soochna Kosh”, this state-of-the-art AI-based Interactive Information Management System has been formally launched by OP Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director in the presence of Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel), J K Borah, Director (Technical/Operations), A K Behura, Director (Finance), A S Bapat, Director (Technical/ Projects & Planning) and General Managers and Heads of various departments.
The system is designed to enable automation of knowledge discovery leveraging advanced NLP (Natural Language Processing) powered solution and Generative AI-powered search engine that retrieves relevant, current and accurate answers from internal document repository, like financial documents/tables, project manuals, policies, contracts, SOPs and others regulatory papers.
The CMD applauded the initiative by the Innovation Cell of the company and said, “AI & ML (machine learning) are the next big thing in mining and MCL being pioneer in this field will leverage the many possibilities that it offers.”
MCL has roped in an Odisha-based StartUp M/s ZeonAI Labs Pvt. Ltd, to develop “Soochna Kosh” which is designed to seamlessly delve into company’s internal documents, knowledge repository, and tap into the vast expanse of inter-departmental data, providing the user with accurate, latest and insightful responses.
The launch of ‘Soochna Kosh’ is a stepping stone to usher in intelligent document processing capabilities and seamlessly streamline operational processes. With its ability to provide contextual based information, ‘Soochna Kosh’ is poised to become an intelligent tool for the entire business value chain of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited.
