Whenever we see a mining engineer, an image of a young man suddenly strikes our mind, but then there are many women who are breaking these gender stereotypes, by standing strong in mines and taking command for best production.
NTPC as a gender inclusive organisation is steadily working towards hiring women engineers and giving wings to their unlimited potential.
NTPC has recently hired its first female mining, Sakshi Kumari, a Btech Graduate from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela with specialization in Mining Engineering.
Passionate about operations part in mining, Sakshi shares a vision for inclusion and diversity for women in this field. And surprisingly, she joined the NTPC Dulanga Coal Mining Project on 15 th June which is marked as International Day for Women in Mining.
Even after hailing from a small village in Samstipur, Bihar, the geographical restricts never bound her. Sakshi is highly passionate about technical and operational aspects related to mining. She believes that one day she will take a leading role in driving innovation and sustainability practises in the mining industry across nation.
