Korba, 27 August : In Chhattisgarh, the private medical lobby is so dominant that despite flouting the rules and regulations, the government- administration is not able to bother to put its hands on the collars of their owners. Private hospitals are fiercely exploiting the patients in the name of medical and health services. There is one such private medical institute in Korba district of Chhattisgarh, which is known for charging exorbitant fees.
Here we are talking about New Korba Sperspeciality Hospital. This hospital is being operated by defying many standards of the Chhattisgarh State Nursing Home and Medical Establishment Licensing Act (NURSING HOME RULES 2013).
Since the facilities are available in New Korba Super Specialty Hospital, a large number of patients reach here. As soon as the patient steps into the hospital, his economic exploitation starts. In fact, the patient and his family members are kept confused about the treatment expenses by the hospital management.
The hospital management has not made any such system so that the patients and their relatives can come to know about the treatment charges. As a rule, a board should be put up in the reception area with the doctor’s consultation fee and the list of rates for other tests etc. So that the patient can estimate the expenses before starting the treatment. Due to non-disclosure of fee information, the patient becomes a victim of economic exploitation.
On the other hand, it has also been told that unnecessary tests are also done on the patients arriving for treatment at New Korba Super Specialty Hospital, so that a substantial billing can be done. Despite having Ayushman card, money is collected from the patient by misleading him.
If a person asks for information about fees etc. from the hospital management, he is misbehaved with. Such incidents have come to the fore. Some cases are pending in the Consumer Forum.
The District Administration and the Chief Medical and Health Department have also come to the notice of charging arbitrary fees, not providing proper treatment, etc., but their hands are trembling with action.
