Korba, 04 August. Hospitals of public sector undertakings like NTPC are also discriminating among patients. This has been observed in the departmental hospital of NTPC, Korba.
The hospital of NTPC, Korba, which has a capacity of 2600 MW, is located in a residential complex. In this hospital, NTPC employees and their families get health facilities.
Also, non-employees i.e. outsiders can also avail health benefits by paying the prescribed fee, but in this case, the NTPC hospital management is adopting a policy of discrimination. It has been observed that the doctors posted in the hospital give first priority to NTPC employees.
In OPD, the doctor does not see the patients in the order of their arrival. After paying the fee, non-employee patients wait for a long time with the prescription. NTPC patients who arrive after the non-employee patients are seen first. The same attitude is adopted even when the non-employee patient is in a critical condition.
Discrimination is being done not only in OPD but also during X-ray, lab etc. tests. Doctors say that this is being done on the orders of the Chief Medical Officer.
In this regard, a message was sent on WhatsApp to Ushma Ghosh, Executive of Corporate Communication Department of NTPC Korba, for an official statement, and it was written that an official statement would be issued. Even after waiting for 5 hours, the official statement was not issued.
