NTPC Bongaigaon today commenced its commercial pond ash evacuation which is a milestone moment and the first of its kind for the power station.
The trail pond ash evacuation was earlier successfully done in December 2022. The station auctioned 3 lakh metric tons of pond ash through M/s MSTC. The offered quantity was fully auctioned at a price of Rs 64-68/- PMT in February 2023 for a period of one year.
Pond ash evacuation has been a long challenging target for the station. Shri Karunakar Das, CGM, NTPC Bongaigaon, and the environment monitoring group took great interest to achieve this target from its inception.
Sanjay Pande, GM (FGD), I. S. Reddy, GM (Maintenance), Arunashis Das, GM (Project), and officials from EMG and Civil O&M were present during the opening function.
A safety pep talk on bulk material handling and road safety was administered to the pond ash lifters before the start of the evacuation.
