Dulanga, January 13, 2024 : Annual Mines Safety Fortnight (AMSF)’2023-24 is being observed at NTPC, Dulanga Coal Mining Project (DLCMP) from January 5th to 18th, 2024, under the aegis of DGMS Bhubaneswar Region I and II and as per modalities of AMSF’2023-24. A series of activities are being conducted for reinforcing safety awareness among the workforce of DLCMP.

In observance of above, on January 12th , 2024 Multi-disciplinary inspection teams visited DLCMP for inspection of Mines and Vocational Training Centre (VTC) respectively led by  P. Sinha, Agent, HBM Orient Area and A. K. Garnaik, Ch. Mgr (Min)/Supdt. Rescue under the observance of Tapas Ku. Mohanty, Ch. Mgr(Min)/ISO, and V C Thakur, Mgr (Min/ISO) from MCL HQ.

The event commenced with a warm welcome to the inspection team by Brij Raj Prasoon, General Manager (Infra), Brijesh Shandilya, GM (Safety) and other senior officials at NTPC site office. A detailed presentation on Mines Safety & VTC activities was presented before the inspection team.

Later, team visited to MTK office and were felicitated by members of Pit Safety Committee. The programme started with imparting of safety pledge to all and welcome address by Shri Rajesh Ranjan, Safety Officer. Team leaders of inspecting teams addressed workmen, supervisors and executives. They emphasised the importance of AMSF events in advancing safey cultures in mines. They appreciated the safety initiatives and safety records of DLCMP and sensitised them about safety. Sadananda Chary U, Mine Manager emphasised the various good safety practices, technological developments and achievements of the mine.

Prabhakar Chaudhary, Mine Agent underscored the paramount importance of safety and reiterated NTPC’s commitment to achieving Zero Accident Goal. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Executive Director of SMASL emphasised the importance of safety and expressed the commitment for safety in day to day operations.

Subsequently, the team visited Mine, HEMM Workshops, CHP, Electrical Substations, pumping station, VTC etc accompanied with Agent, Manager, Safety Officer, Pit Engineer, Workman Inspectors and other senior officials from NTPC & MDO. They interacted with operators, supervisors, and executives and appreciated their safety awareness.

The event featured the recognition of outstanding contributions through different awards, including Role Model of Safety, Safe Workers, winners of Trade Test ,Quiz etc. A Nukkad Natak (street play) emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety rules added a creative touch to the event.

An exhibition showcasing new technologies for safety in HEMM, Blasting, state of the art technology in Survey, and other aspects was also organized, generating enthusiasm among attendees.

Further the team visited the R&R Colony, expressing appreciation for the infrastructure and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) welfare measures provided by NTPC to the displaced
