In a significant step towards sustainable water management and environmental conservation, NTPC Korba has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagar Nigam Korba to establish a Tertiary Sewage Water Treatment Plant in the city.
NTPC has committed ₹111 crore towards the setup of this advanced treatment facility, which will enable the reuse of treated sewage water for industrial purposes at the NTPC Korba plant. This initiative marks a pioneering move, making Korba the first city in Chhattisgarh to implement large-scale reuse of sewage water.
Prior to this project, NTPC Korba had already contributed over ₹14 crore for the establishment of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the city, further demonstrating its commitment to community development and environmental sustainability.
The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Smt. Sanju Devi, Mayor of Korba, and Shri Ashutosh Pandey, IAS, Commissioner, Nagar Nigam, along with senior officials and members of Nagar Nigam Korba. Representing NTPC at the event were Shri Rajeev Khanna, ED, NTPC Korba, Shri Shashi Shekhar, AGM (HR), Shri Manoj Kumar Rajak, AGM (TS), Shri Shailendra Yadav, DGM (P&S), Shri Jeevaraj Jat, DGM (FES) and Shri Shashank Chhajer, Senior Manager (HR).
This collaboration between NTPC and Nagar Nigam Korba sets a benchmark in responsible water usage and is expected to contribute significantly to water conservation efforts in the region.
