Korba, 17 July : NTPC Korba proudly inaugurated the Inter-District Junior Girls Football Championship and Coaching Camp, marking a significant step towards promoting grassroots football talent in Chhattisgarh. The event commenced with an impressive ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including the District Football Association Vice President and Match Commissioner.
Organized under the auspices of BUH Korba, Shri Rajeev Khanna, the event was graced by the presence of GM (FM), Shri S.P. Singh, AGM (HR), Shri Shashi Shekhar and President, Sports Council, Shri K.P. Chandravanshi and esteemed CSR members, underscoring NTPC’s commitment to fostering sports development in the region.
Over the course of four days, teams from Raipur, Bijapur, Durg, and Bastar districts will compete fervently for the championship title. The victorious team will be awarded a prestigious 21-day coaching camp tailored for 30 players, aimed at further honing their skills and preparing them for higher levels of competition. Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, it was announced that 15 outstanding players will be selected from the coaching camp to represent Chhattisgarh at the national level.
This pathway has proven fruitful in the past, as exemplified by Kiran Pisdu’s journey. Kiran, discovered through a previous edition of this event, went on to shine at the national level and subsequently played for both the Kerala league and a prominent European club in 2018.
NTPC Korba, through its consistent support of grassroots sports, continues to nurture young talent and provide them with opportunities to excel on both national and international platforms.
