On the morning of August 15, 2024, NTPC Solapur marked the 78th Independence Day with a spirited and grand ceremony at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Stadium. The event was filled with patriotism and pride, as the Chief Guest, Shri Tapan Kumar Bandyopadhyay, CGM (Solapur), unfurled the national flag with great reverence.

The celebrations commenced with Shri Bandyopadhyay, accompanied by the Commandant of CISF, inspecting the impressive platoons comprising CISF personnel, the CISF Fire wing, DGR, and Notre Dame Academy students. The parade was a highlight of the ceremony, showcasing the discipline and dedication of the participants as they marched past the stadium, receiving a salute from the chief guest.
In his address, Shri Bandyopadhyay paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. He extended his congratulations to NTPC employees for their continued contribution to nation-building, urging them to persist in their hard work and dedication.
The event was marked by the presence of Shri Bipul Kumar Mukhopadhyay, GM (O&M), Shri Surya Narayana Murty Vadapalli, GM (Project), Shri Naveen Kumar Arora, GM (Maintenance), Shri Parimal Kumar Mishra, GM (Operation), and Smt Nupur Bandyopadhyay, President, Srijana Mahila Mandal, among others. Members of the ladies’ club, CISF Unit, Principal of Notre Dame Academy, all HODS/HOS, employees, families, Union & Association representatives, and residents also graced the occasion.
Adding to the day’s significance, the Chief Guest, alongside the Commandant of CISF, GMs, and HOHR, presented the BUH Meritorious Awards, honoring outstanding achievements. Mementos were distributed to participants in the cultural program, while trophies were awarded to the Best Turnout of the Parade Contingent, celebrating their exemplary dedication.
The celebration was part of the #Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, where the revered national flag, the Tiranga, was distributed to all NTPC Solapur employees. The campaign encouraged everyone to pay tribute to the ‘Veers’ who laid down their lives for the country.
The event also featured exuberant cultural performances by students from Twinkle Bell School, Bal Bhawan, and Notre Dame Academy, who showcased their talents with a patriotic fervor. The CISF personnel added a thrilling element with a commando and fire safety demonstration.
