Global crude oil prices extended gains today to hit multi-year highs, lifted by tight global supply and strengthening fuel demand in the United States and beyond as economies recover from pandemic-induced slumps.

So, Brent crude futures rose 64 cents, to trade at 86.17 dollars a barrel. Earlier in the day, the contract touched 86.43 dollars a barrel, the highest price since October 2018. US crude futures climbed 75 cents, to 84.51 dollars a barrel. They hit their highest since October 2014 at 84.76 dollars a barrel earlier in the day.
