SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant signs MoU with ALIMCO for distribution of artificial limbs, aids and assistive devices worth Rs. 1.07 crores in Rourkela, Mines and periphery areas
Memorandum of understandings (MoU) have been signed between SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), on 2nd Dec, 2023 for distribution of artificial limbs, aids and assistive devices amongst person with disabilities & senior citizens in various areas of RSP’s direct impact zones.
An amount of Rs. 90.00 lakhs has been sanctioned for the people residing in the direct impact zones of RSP i.e. revenue blocks of Bisra, Nuagaon, Kuarmunda and Lathikata, Model Steel Villages & resettlement Colonies of RSP and slums of Industrial/municipal area of Rourkela. Another Rs. 17 lakhs has been sanctioned for the Odisha Group of Mines (OGoM) areas like Bolani, Barsuan and Koida. It is worth mentioning here that ALIMCO is a mini ratna company which produces artificial limbs for the Person with disabilities (Divyangjans) and aids and assistive devices for senior citizens.
In a formal function held at IPD Building of CSR Department, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between by Mr. P K Swain, on behalf of RSP, while Mr. A V Ashok Kumar, Senior Manger & Unit Head, ALIMCO, Bhubaneswar signed the MoU on behalf of ALIMCO. Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR) welcomed the gathering and briefed on the project while Mr.T. B. Toppo, AGM (CSR) coordinated the programme.
In another programme organized at the ED (Mines) Conference Hall, Mr.N.C. Panda, GM (P &A), BIM and Sri V K Kumar, Sr.Mgr and regional head of ALIMCO signed the MOU. Mr. S. Malla, CGM (RP &E) and other Senior Officers of OGoM and other officials from ALIMCO were present on the occasion.
AS per the MoUs, the beneficiary lists shall be obtained from Odisha govt. through respective block offices and distribution camps will be held at different locations. Assistive devices such as battery operated motorized Tricycles, hand propelled Tricycles, wheel chairs, hearing aids, smart/sugamya cane, adjustable crutch axilla, Braille cane, Braille kit etc shall be provided to the divyangjans. Similarly, for eligible senior citizens, walking sticks, elbow crutches, walker/crutches axilla, tripods/tetrapods, hearing aids, wheel chairs, wheel chairs with commode, chair/stool with commode, Silicon Foam Cushion, knee brace, spinal support, cervical collar, walker/rollator with breakes, foot care kit etc shall be provided.
