Singareni Collieries Company Limited Chairman and Managing Director Sri N Balram, IRS has made a tripartite agreement for the exploration and development of a Geo-Thermal power project in Manuguru with the ONGC Director Smt. Sushma Rawat and Telangana state REDCO General Manager Sri Satya Varaprasad at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday.
SCCL has already started generation of 20 Kilowatts of Geo-thermal power project on a pilot basis at Manuguru. As part of the agreement, ONGC would take up investigations and exploration works to take up the generation from Geo-thermal power project. TS REDCO would secure all necessary environmental clearances for the project and SCCL would provide all logistics for the project.
Already, SCCL had taken up a pilot to generate about 20 kilowatts of power through the Geo-thermal power project with the availability of hot springs found in the Singareni coal mining areas of Manuguru region in Badradri-Kothagudem region.
SCCL Chairman Sri N Balram said that the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had stated that there was every possibility of producing 122 Megawatts of Geo-Thermal power station in Manuguru. ONGC Director Smt. Sushma Rawat said that Manuguru in the Singareni region would emerge as the country’s biggest Geo-thermal power station.
Stating that along with the generation of Geo-Thermal power at Manuguru, she said that there was the possibility of producing helium from the region if there was more research.
TS REDCO General Manager Sri Satya Varaprasad said that Telangana state government was encouraging the generation of clean and green energy.
Singareni Directors Sri D Satyanarayana Rao, Sri NVK Srinivas, Sri G Venkateshwar Reddy, General Manager Sri SDM Subhani, General Manager (Coordination) Sri G Devendar, ONGC GGM Sri Gopal Joshi, General Manager Sri Sanjay Kumar Mukherjee, Chief Manager Sri Ramesh Satla, Sri Anup Bharadwaj and others were also present.
