The Sensex and the Nifty today slipped marginally amid mixed global cues. However, the Sensex closed above the 60,000 mark while the Nifty ended few points below 17,900 level.

The BSE Sensex fell 109 points, or 0.18 percent, to trade at 60,029. The NSE Nifty also declined 41 points, or 0.23 percent, to trade at 17,889.
In the broader market at BSE. The Mid-Cap index rose 0.55 percent and the Small-Cap index gained 1.11 percent. In the Sensex pack, shares of 14 companies gained while 16 logged losses. Maruti was the top gainer as it surged 2.4 percent followed by Titan which gained two percent. NTPC climbed 1.8 percent while SBI and Larsen Toubro, both surged 1.2 percent.
On the other side, Tata Steel plunged 3.7 percent and Tech Mahindra declined 2.1 percent. HCL fell one and half a percent and Reliance slipped 1.4 percent. In sectoral indices, 11 out of 19 sectors logged gains. Realty sector gained the most as it gained 3.3 percent followed by Consumer Durables which rose 1.1 percent. Auto sector added one percent.
On the other hand, Metal declined 1.9 percent, energy sector ended 1.2 percent up and Basic Materials fell 1.1 percent.

The overall breadth of the BSE trade was positive as shares of 1936 companies gained while 1332 fell. Shares of 133 companies remained unchanged.
