SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the renewable energy arm of SJVN, has received Letter of Intent (LOI) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for execution of 200 MW Solar Project in GUVNL Phase–XXIII. SJVN Green Energy Limited had earlier bagged the 200 MW Solar Project through tariff based competitive bidding at a tariff of Rs. 2.66 per unit on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis for which electronic reverse auction was conducted by GUVNL on March 2, 2024.
Chairperson & Managing Director, SJVN, Smt. Geeta Kapur apprised that the tentative cost of construction and development of this project is Rs. 1,100 crores. The project is to be developed at the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) Solar Park at Khavda in Kachchh district of Gujarat. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be executed with GUVNL after adoption of tariff by GERC. The Project will be commissioned within a period of 18 months from the date of signing of the PPA.
The project is expected to generate 508.40 million units of energy in the first year after commissioning and the cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years is projected to be about 11,698.16 million units. The commissioning of this project is expected to reduce 5,73,210 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
SJVN Limited, a Mini Ratna- Category-I and Schedule – ’A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, commenced its journey on May 24, 1988 as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
SJVN has diversified into almost all forms of energy i.e. Hydro, Thermal, Wind, Solar, Power trading and Transmission. Looking ahead, SJVN aims to grow by setting ambitious targets to achieve the Shared Vision of 25,000 MW installed capacity by the year 2030 and 50,000 MW installed capacity by the year 2040.
