Bengaluru, April 30, 2025: Tata Steel has won the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Climate Action Programme (CAP) 2.0° Resilient Award in the Energy, Mining and Heavy Manufacturing category, for the third consecutive time.
CAP 2.0°, a programme initiated by the CII Centre for Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD), is designed to assist businesses in enhancing their resilience to climate change. Utilising a climate-maturity model alongside principles from the business excellence framework, CAP 2.0° empowers organisations to evaluate climate-related risks and opportunities.
By integrating climate mitigation actions into their long-term strategies, businesses can effectively navigate the challenges posed by climate change. This benchmarking initiative recognises companies for their efforts in climate mitigation and adaptation, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and rapid implementation of effective practices. CAP 2.0° aims to support India’s climate goals by encouraging industries to adopt sustainable practices that contribute to environmental resilience.
Rajiv Mangal, Vice President – Safety, Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel, said: “Climate action is not just a responsibility – it’s an opportunity to reimagine a better world. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and feel grateful to be part of this journey as Tata Steel receives this recognition for the third consecutive time. We remain committed to leading with purpose and impact.”
Tata Steel has been recognised for its climate action by several Indian and international agencies in the past. Earlier this year, Tata Steel was recognised as the 2025 Steel Sustainability Champion by worldsteel for the eighth consecutive year.
Tata Steel is also a founder participant in worldsteel’s Climate Action programme and has been recognised as an accredited Climate Action member ever since. The Company has a long, unbroken record of annual disclosure to CDP & DJSI.
