Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest zinc producer, attracted thousands of visitors to its stall at the Rising Rajasthan Global Business Summit 2024, a three-day investment conclave organized by the Government of Rajasthan. Themed “At the CORE of the Clean Energy Transition”, the stall highlighted the metals of life—zinc, lead, & silver—and their pivotal role in building a sustainable future, leveraging advanced technologies and fostering empowered communities.
The company’s stall was a massive crowd-puller and stood out as the undisputed best stall owing to its immersive & interactive technologies on display.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the Hindustan Zinc and experienced the 3D augmented reality-based walkthrough of the company’s operations. Union Minster of Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State of Urban Development & Self-Governance, Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, ambassadors of various counties such as Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Venezuela, state dignitaries, administrative officers, industry leaders, professionals, students, customers, and business partners, experienced the core of the clean energy transition through several interactive exhibits.
A standout attraction was an immersive virtual reality (VR) training experience, offering an engaging glimpse into underground machinery operations that is used to train operators by providing a real-life experience of driving earth moving machinery in Hindustan Zinc’s mines. Adding a fun, interactive element was Zincky the Robot, who delighted visitors by capturing their photographs and providing memorable keepsakes.
The stall showcased Hindustan Zinc’s premium products, including special high-grade zinc, Asia’s first low carbon ‘green’ zinc EcoZen, die-casting alloys, lead, shiny silver, and ore from the one of the world’s oldest zinc mining sites in Udaipur.
Visitors were particularly captivated by the 3D augmented reality tour of the world’s largest underground zinc mining operations in Bhilwara and the world’s largest single-location zinc-lead smelter in Chittorgarh. Along with this, Vedanta’s Cairn Oil & Gas showcased its advanced drone technology and virtual reality-based training that is enhancing safety across its operations at Mangla in Barmer.
Additionally, the company presented a live arts and crafts display, where women from Hindustan Zinc’s community initiative, demonstrated their Ajrak and block printing skills. A VR-based football game celebrating the company’s Zinc Football Academy, which has nurtured 8,000 young talents in Rajasthan, added another interactive dimension to the stall.
A major highlight of the summit was the announcement of the world’s first Zinc Park by Vedanta Chairman Shri Anil Agarwal to be set up by Vedanta’s Hindustan Zinc. Set to be one of the largest industrial ecosystems, the Zinc Park will be established in Rajasthan, near Hindustan Zinc’s advanced zinc plants.
With renewable energy-powered operations, it promises to create thousands of jobs, provide world-class infrastructure, and cater to businesses requiring zinc, lead, silver, and their byproducts. Additionally, the park will serve suppliers, offering a cost-effective and resource-efficient environment for raw material, maintenance services and equipment suppliers.
Vedanta Chairman Shri Anil Agarwal further demonstrated his confidence in the state by announcing a fresh investment of ₹1 lakh crore in Rajasthan through its flagship entities Hindustan Zinc, Cairn Oil & Gas and Serentica Renewables. Hindustan Zinc plans to double its zinc production capacity, expand its silver production, and introduce India’s first fertilizer plant, while Cairn Oil & Gas will boost its oil production, and Serentica Renewables will develop 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity.
